A Basic Necessity

Happy Wednesday!

I know I mention it a lot, but I’m really obsessed with outerwear. From moto jackets to vests to varsity jackets to tailored jackets to denim jackets, it’s one of the things I invest in the most and can’t get enough of. And then I realized that the reason I love outerwear pieces so much is because I love anything that you can throw over a basic look. It’s somewhat of a basic outfit necessity if you will.
My style is pretty simple and I know I joke around about being lazy and always being in a style rut, but honestly that’s just what my style is and what I like. Simple looks that borderline basic. So when I can throw a piece over a basic look and make it more interesting I’m all for it. I purchased this BR dress last year and only recently really appreciated how great it is to pair with a basic outfit. I’ve been wearing the stripe shirt and black pants combo for a while, it’s one of my go-to work looks that I rotate, but I realized I looked so much more dressed up and interesting once I added this dress as a duster. It’s been such a versatile piece in my closet from being worn as an actual dress or as a duster coat in the winter and spring and really inspired me to get the most out of all of my shirt dresses because they make the best dusters!
