NYC Diaries :: Dining in Chinatown

Happy Wednesday everyone!
Welcome to a new blog series that I am so excited to introduce. If there’s anything you should know about me, it’s that I’m incredibly passionate about New York City. I find inspiration in every aspect of my life from every aspect of this city. I have my own perspective of this city, but I love seeing it through the eyes of my interns who moved here for a semester, from my friends visiting/moving here and through the eyes of you, my readers.
So I wanted to start sharing my favorite places, areas, things to do, etc in NYC (which you can easily locate with the NYC tab in the navigation bar above) to show you guys what inspires me & what I love most about this city. And to kick things off, we’re starting with my favorite area to get a bite to eat: Chinatown!
My go-to spot when I’m craving the food of my people! The food is amazing & the service makes you feel right at home.

One of the main reasons why I love Chinatown, is because you can get a four course meal for two people and spend less that $25 bucks and in New York, this is unheard of. Between a big bowl of pho,  egg rolls and my all time fave, the pork with rice noodles, pretty much everything on the menu is amazing.

Chinatown also has the best fresh (& exotic!) fruits for a pretty decent price right at your fingertips. Or if you want to be literal, right on the street.

… And the best selection of greens.

… And flowers & plants.

The name speaks for itself and let me tell you, this place is ah-maz-ing!! It’s a mango lovers dream. Just as the name suggests, Mango Mango is a dessert spot that incorporates mangos in every single dish and in every way you could ever want it. In ice cream form, on a waffle, in a smoothie, if you can dream it, they probably have it.

My favorite menu item is the mango ice cream with fresh mango and strawberries, glutinous rice balls and mango juice.

Saved the best for last.
To say I’m obsessed with ViVi Bubble Tea would be the understatement of the year. I not only love it, I crave it, I worship it, I would marry it if I could. There are a few throughout the city and I can sincerely tell you, I know where every single one is and I’ve tried every single location. This location in Chinatown and the one in the west village are my favorite spots to hit up and the employees even know who I am.

Bubble tea for me & five of my closest friends! JUST KIDDING. Six bubble teas for yours truly.
I’ve had everything on the menu and you can’t go wrong with anything you get, but my favorite include the classic milk bubble tea with tapioca and lychee jelly, the passion fruit QQ, mango tea, any flavor slush especially green apple, mango and passion fruit and the tiramisu. If I go any further, I’ll list the whole menu, so I’ll stop right here.

Well, there you have it! A few of my favorite spots to hit up on the weekends or whenever I’m in Chinatown. I hope you all enjoyed this post and I would love hear your thoughts, comments, feedback, requests in the comments below!
