Beach Day :: Rio Cover-Up Dress

Madewell Rio Cover-Up Dress Live Laugh Linda Quinones
Happy Wednesday Babes!
If you couldn’t tell from this post and this post, I’m in a constant beach/pool state of mind. It’s all I want to do and it’s all I want to shop for. So to continue on with the theme of the week, I wanted to share the cutest cover-up dress that I wore to the beach on one of our last days in Miami.

Is it pessimistic of me to try and not get excited for things because 9 times out of 10, I know I’ll be let down?
Ok, that’s a bit dramatic of me, but you know what that means…Storytime!
So, I was so excited for this trip that I started planning for it while there was still snow on the ground. You should have seen my extensive wishlist and this was before the actual spring/summer merchandise hit the stores. Well, if we’re being honest, life hit and it hit hard and buying 56 white dresses, 27 off the shoulder tops, 18 striped dresses and 12 new pairs of shoes were out of the question. Long story short, no one puts this shopaholic in a corner so the shopping spree still happened, just an edited version of it. But, out of everything I purchased, I was most excited about this cover-up.
For the most part, I tried to wait till everything was on sale and of course with just my luck, this dress and this cover-up sold out before I could scoop it up and me being the drama queen that I am (and the planner that I am because I already had a vision of what I wanted to shoot down there) I freaked. My mom always says that if something is meant for you, you’ll find it. If it’s not available in your size or it’s sold out then maybe it’s not meant for ¬†you or if it is, you’ll stumble upon it at a later day. Well, let me tell you, this little cover-up was made for me. We flew out on Monday, but did some last minute shopping on Saturday and hanging on the rack at Madewell was this cover-up on sale and the last one left!! If that doesn’t scream “BUY ME” then I honestly don’t know what does. Even though it’s a cover-up, I definitely intend to wear this as an everyday dress because I love it that much.
I threw on this cover-up before heading to the beach one day with the intent to shoot some pictures then relax. But, once my feet hit the sand and that ocean breeze hit my face, all I wanted to do was get my tan on and enjoy my banana daquiri. Well, after laying out for a few hours, I was a tad sunburnt, definitely sweaty and sandy, hair a little greasy, dress a little wrinkled and too busy drinking my strawberry daiquiri (because apparently they ran out of bananas to be able to make me another banana daiquiri- yeah, I’m still not over it- the banana catastrophe of 2016). Anyways, I remember feeling less than glamorous shooting these pics because it was so hot all I wanted to do was either go back to the beach or go take a shower. I remember my mom taking hundreds of pictures because I had this vision in my mind that I just wasn’t seeing on camera because I felt like a hot mess and we were also rushing because we had to get ready for the reward dinner and it was definitely an eventful afternoon. Looking back on these photos now, I’m actually happy with the way they came out, but man, I was crankier as ever shooting these.
