Hello Everyone! Happy, Happy Monday!
Do you happen to notice anything different?!
Yes! Live Laugh Linda has gotten a bit of a facelift! Doesn’t she look great ?! New Year, New Me. New Phone, Who dis?
A quick outfit mention : I’m beyond obsessed with this bell sleeve blouse that I have it in two colors. I’ve styled the red version a few times during the holidays and today I’m sharing the white version! It’s really such a statement blouse with the bell sleeves and crochet detail, but it’s surprisingly a versatile piece.
But, today I wanted to focus more on New Year Goals so I won’t spend too much time talking about the site design, since I have a whole dedicated post about it, coming up this Wednesday. But, I will say, I’m so happy about it. As much as I loved my old site and how easy blogger was to navigate, I’ve grown so much last year and I wanted my site to grow with me.
But, back to the point! I’m definitely one of those annoying people that believe in the “New Year, New Me” motto. I just love how inspired I always feel to have a fresh start and to set and achieve new goals. So to kick off a new year, I wanted to first start by reviewing my goals from last year.
This is my first time doing this so hopefully throughout the year, I will be more accountable about the goals I set for 2017, since I’ll have to report back!
This was one of my biggest goals for the year. A big part of my unhappiness was my previous job. I alluded to it before, but that job took such a toll out of me and was one of the most toxic environments I have ever been in. I actually quit that job and it was one of the best and hardest decisions I had to make. But, I ended up getting the job of my dreams, focusing on myself and I really couldn’t be happier.
Another goal I made in relation to my old job. With my new job, I no longer feel as if I need to wear an armor and stand up for myself everyday, but I am stronger in terms of handling any work confrontations.
Manage my social time
Yet, another one made in relation to my old job…..my hours were insane so my relationships with all the important people in my life were put on the back burner. This year, I definitely focused on making my current relationships stronger, gained new friends and rekindled old friendships.
Last year I really wanted to travel and my number one dream destination was Miami. Although 2016 was not a huge travel year for me, I accomplished my goal of jetsetting to Miami and it was one of my favorite/happiest memories of the year.
Weekday vs Weekend
I’m definitely not one of those people that does their makeup just because they have to. I genuinely love doing my makeup and getting dressed in the morning. I think when you make an effort to look good, you feel good. Well, I’m happy to report that I actually make more of an effort these days and it makes me so happy, plus life is just better with a bold red lip!
I actually don’t know if I blogged more in 2016, I do know I felt a little burnt out and less motivated throughout the year. But, I will say that I feel super inspired for 2017 and have a ton of new plans and ideas for the blog!
Ok, so 2016 wasn’t the big YouTube comeback I wanted it to be, but I’m adding this as a 2017 carryover since I’m really motivated to stay consistent. I already have 2 videos filmed with a new one coming up next Wednesday!
For the most part, I feel like I accomplished a lot of my big goals for 2016. In a lot of ways, it was one of my hardest, but best years and it taught me a lot about myself. So with that being said, let’s dive into 2017 head first.
This one is pretty much checked off, but I still wanted to share! At the end of 2016, I debuted a new blog name and site design. As much as I loved my old site, I feel like I grew a lot last year and I wanted my blog to grow with me. I wanted to move it to wordpress so I could have more creative control and I wanted it to look more mature and professional while staying true to who I am.
Take Live Laugh Linda to the next level
I spent a lot of time thinking about what I wanted Live Laugh Linda to become. For the past 2.5 years of blogging, I’ve been sharing outfit posts and shopping wishlists. As much as I really do love sharing both, it’s not the only thing I am. So for 2017, I want to share more of myself. I want Live Laugh Linda to become more personal and I want to become more of a face and person to you as opposed to another blogger who just shares outfits.
I used to be a material over experience kind of person. Money was tight growing up so I preferred to have something I could use and reuse. I’ve finally hit a point in my life where I’m pretty stable in my career and happy in my personal and work life. The main thing my Miami trip taught me was that traveling and exploring is really great for your peace of mind. It’s like a reset button. I have a huge trip planned for the end of this month (more about that to come!) and I’m researching new places I want to visit!
A pretty simple one. I’m a dramatic person. For example…. One time my cart man forgot the bacon in my bacon and egg and I swore it ruined my whole day. So yeah, I’m dramatic. This year I really vow to focus on the small things in life and don’t sweat every little thing.
In 2016 I became more involved with the blogging community. Joined some support groups/forums and interacted more with bloggers. As great and inspiring as it was, it was also hard in that I constantly kept comparing myself with everyone else. Why aren’t I collabing with that brand? Am I the only one who didn’t get that email? How come I don’t have as many followers? I mean, it drove me crazy and made me feel discouraged. So this year, I want to just do my thing and be happy with what I accomplish and am able to do rather than feel like I’m behind everyone.
Straight to the point. I just want to make more of an effort to maintain an editorial calendar this year and to stay organized in every aspect of blogging.
Say Yes More
Whether it be collaborations, grabbing coffee/drinks with someone, dinner dates with friends, a fun Friday night date with my boyfriend, whatever it may be, I just want to be a yes girl for 2017 and get out and experience more.
Blog for myself
This one is a little complicated so stay with me for a moment. When I started blogging, I couldn’t care less about making money, working with brands or numbers and analytics. I was a strong believer in blogging for yourself. Even if it was only my mom reading my blog, at least I’m doing something I’ve always wanted to and something that makes me happy.
As I’ve become more part of the blogging community and my blog has gotten older, I’ve found myself getting caught up in the sales and trying to keep up with the popular posts and what other bloggers are doing, tracking my analytics and comparing with others and I’ve lost my way a little bit.
So with that being said, I want to start blogging for me again. Writing and working on posts that I love and not worrying about what others are doing because I truly believe that if I love and believe in what I’m doing then you will. Because believe me, as a reader I can always tell when someone doesn’t believe in their work so as a blogger I want to provide content that is real and authentic.
Woooof! That was a long one, but I wanted to cover a few things as we kick off 2017 so thank you for bearing with me. If you made any big or small goals for the year or accomplished something big last year, I would love to hear about it in the comments below. And thank you guys for reading and bearing with me these past 2.5 years. I hope 2017 is our best one yet!
