Hello everyone! Happy Wednesday!
I’m sure you’ve noticed by now (since I’m so excited and have been talking/posting about it non-stop), but Live Laugh Linda has had a much needed face-lift and is ready to take on 2017.
To be honest, I’m still learning my way around WordPress and getting to know all of the different features, but I love that I can easily customize everything. So today, I wanted to walk you through the site and talk about all of the newly added features. And while we’re on the topic of new, I wanted to share some thoughts I have of the current state of my site and the new content you can expect this year.
A New Logo & Landing Page
You know I love pineapples so it was important to me to have that still be part of my logo! I really wanted a clean and simple site that was easy to navigate because as a reader I hate when blogs have so many bells & whistles because it gets confusing. At the top, you will find a constant carousel of my most recent post so you can easily click on it to check them out. I have also added a floating navigation bar so you will no longer need to scroll all the way back up to look through a different category.
The subject of traveling has become very important to me. I traveled to Miami at a very low point in my life and it was a huge reset button for me. So with that being said, I have added a travel tab so all of those posts are easy to find. If you click directly on the travel tab, it will bring you to posts that help you prepare for your trip, tips to make your life easier or help you make the most out of it. I have also added sub tabs based on location.
Filed by destination
Currently I only have two sub tabs. One with all of my Miami post and one with my NYC Guide posts. I’ll be adding more sub tabs with different locations the more I travel, but the NYC tab will be my main one where I’ll be sharing all of my favorite places and things to do in the city. Continuing my NYC Diaries series is a big focus for me for the year!
We all know I have a shopping problem. You probably have a shopping problem too. That’s really what brings us together. So if you click the shop tab directly it will show you all of the items I currently own and can not live without. As for the subcategories, currently coveting will show you everything I have my eye on, vacation style will show you all of the pieces that I’m loving for a tropical getaway and the Instagram tab will let you shop all of my LTK pics!
New Sidebar Shop Categories
I also added a few different shop categories for my sidebar and I have to say, these are probably my favorite. The first is Pineapple Lovin’ to share all of the pineapple related items I find and obviously love. I feel like I don’t talk about it as much as I want to, but I’m actually obsessed with makeup and wanted to start sharing my love with you. So I added two new categories. One sharing the products I use everyday and one sharing the new products I’m dying to try.
Leading up to the new year, I began to really think about my site in a way that I haven’t before. For the first time since starting my blog, I don’t feel like I’m fighting to make it in the fashion industry and running around like crazy. I’m incredibly happy in my career and ready to turn my attention towards my site, which has really motivated me to make 2017 a great blog year.
For the past two years, I have been sharing outfit posts, inspiration and shopping wish lists. As much as I really enjoy that, I feel like I haven’t allowed you as a reader to get to know me. I feel like I’m becoming and you’re viewing me as just another blogger who posts outfits and is obsessed with Nordstrom. None of which are bad things! But, I want to share more of me and incorporating different content weekly.
So with that being said, I am going to continue posting outfit inspiration since I do enjoy sharing that, but I also really want to start posting lifestyle content and more personal posts that are different than what I’ve been doing.
Here are a few of my thoughts: Starting a baking/cooking series! I can barely boil water so this is gonna be a hot mess, but we can venture down this road together. City guides, especially sharing my favorite spots in NYC. Similar to that, more travel posts! I have a big international trip planned for this month so I’m working on a ton of posts on how to make the most of your trip prep and how to make your life easier!
Fashion industry posts. I get a ton of emails and questions from you guys about what my current and previous jobs were, how I got the job and any advice I may have for someone starting out so I want to start a series. Those are just a few of my current ideas, but I’m constantly jotting down new ones so I’m excited to start rolling them out this year and please do let me know if there’s anything you want to see specifically!
Thank you for reading!
