I like to think boyfriend jeans and off the shoulder tops go together like peanut butter and jelly. I mean it’s a duo that was just meant to be, a match made in heaven if you will.
And pretty much my dream come true.
When I was packing for Vietnam, I knew I had to grab all the cotton dresses and all the denim shorts. A normal day there is about 95 degrees, with a 50% humidity so boy was it hot hot hot. But, my mother insisted I packed a pair of jeans. At first I thought she was crazy, but mother knows best and I figured since we were traveling halfway across the world, I should listen. And I’m happy I did. I totally forgot how much I love boyfriend jeans with a summery top. Plus, I didn’t realize the mosquitos would LOVE me, I mean they were my biggest fans. Translation: bites on bites on bites. So when we took a day trip to the country side, I pulled on my boyfriend jeans to protect my poor legs, plus it made for a comfy road trip look.
Last summer I wore all the off the shoulder items. I realize it got a little repetitive on the blog, but I couldn’t get enough. So this year, I made it my goal to find off the shoulder pieces with some kind of added detail. This dress from Wednesday’s post had a ruffle overlay that I loved and this top has a flutter sleeve detail that immediately caught my eye. There are so many OTS pieces out there, so I love having just a little detail here and there to make it a little more unique. For my trip, I knew I wanted to pick up simple pieces so that I could really make a statement with my accessories. My handy dandy hat and itty bitty cross body came with me everywhere. I also picked up a pair of Miller’s for my trip. I pretty much get a new pair every summer because I tend to wear them out. I just love how classic they look.
Now, let’s talk Friday Favorites.
Since today’s outfit post consisted of my two favorite styles, it inspired me to start sharing a few of my favorites from the week every Friday. Just random things here and there that I’ve been wanting to share with you all, but just haven’t found a way to talk about them without it sticking out like a sore thumb. So with that being said, here are a few of my favorite from the week!
Reading: Crazy Rich Asians
I have been loving, like borderline obsessing over this book. As someone who comes from an Asian family, there are so many things that I relate to and find hysterical. But, overall it’s such a good read. I’ve always loved reading, but I typically purchase e-books and read off my phone, however, I’ve been more into picking up physical books lately. I really want to talk more about what I’ve been reading on the blog more.
I’m planning to talk about all of my favorite podcasts this coming Monday, but oh my gosh, I don’t know why I just started listening to them. I’m on my feet, running around and pulling samples most of the day and sometimes I just get tired of listening to music and get bored super easily. Listening to podcasts definitely makes the work day fly by, it actually helps me focus more and keeps me super entertained, some make me feel inspired and some help me educate myself a little more. If you have any recommendations, I would love to hear!
Watching: Once Upon A Time
Guilty of binge watching this show for weeks, but I’m finally caught up on the current season. I’ve always loved fairy tale/magical/fantasy stories so I really love this show. Plus fun fact, I actually met the main character when I worked in PR and she came to one of our shows. She was super nice and I always think about it when I watch the show cause I’m a loser obviously.
No Spend March
Yep, you read that right. One of my friends and coworkers who works as a sport merchant at VS actually inspired me to do this. Basically, for the whole month you don’t waste or spend money on anything you can avoid. Obviously, girl gotta pay her bills, but I’m not making any Starbucks runs, I’m not buying lunch out or shopping. So far I’m doing great and I’m excited to see how much I save. I’ll be sure to report back at the end of the month!
Listen, I’m not the poster child for healthy, but since I was super sick for like 2 weeks, I drank a lot of water with the hopes that it would make me feel better and it actually did. I’ve been making more of an effort to pack water with me and at least finish the bottle I bring with me to work, but I also love how it makes me feel. My skin looks so clear and healthy and I feel good about myself!
Ok, what do you think? I’m thinking of making this a reoccurring thing every Friday or every other Friday where I share what I’ve been loving. But, I would also appreciate any feedback as well! Make sure to check back on Monday where I share all of my favorite podcasts.
Until then, thank you so much for reading!
