Happy Monday Everyone!
I don’t know if it’s the after-Holiday blues, the cold weather or maybe it’s just me, but I’ve been having a hard time staying upbeat lately. I’ve mentioned it many times before, but I do love my job & I feel so grateful and blessed to have the opportunity to work for a publication and company that other people would kill to work for. But, it’s an incredibly challenging & unpredictable position that takes a toll on you mentally and physically and as someone who’s a natural pessimist it’s easy to think of everything and anything negative when one thing goes wrong. It sounds really corny, but as I was heading home around 8:30 P.M one night, tired, red lip wearing off and music blasting in my ear (specifically Time of Our Lives by Pitbull ft. Ne-Yo) a specific set of lyrics really spoke to me.
Oddly enough I found inspiration in a Pitbull song where he says “This for anybody going through tough times. Believe me, been there, done that. But everyday above ground is a great day, remember that.” I really don’t care how corny or cheesy it sounds, but listening to that one part really reminded me that everything happens for a reason. You go through those tough times so you really appreciate those happy and easy going moments. You go through those tough times so you’re not just one of those fashion girls that skates by being perfectly content with just working in the industry. I have a major sense of respect for those strong and outspoken women who know what they want and go after it, head first and with no fears. So I have to keep pushing myself because frankly I want to make a difference in this industry, I want to be that strong woman that people look up to and I definitely want to make a respected name for myself.
So enough sappy schpeels from me. I’m taking my cue from one of my favorite striped and graphic sweatshirts and saying cheers to another monday and cheers to a fresh week. *And cheers to listening to Pitbull and actually being grateful for this life we have.*
