Happy Friday babes!
Maybe it’s because of my obsession with Gossip Girl, my life goal of becoming Blair Waldorf or because of the annual trip my mom and I take every May, but the MET is one of my favorite spots in New York City.
The summer after my freshmen year of college was when I really started to appreciate the museum. Going to school in Manhattan, we would always take school trips to the museum, but being the cool kid that I am (*cough**laugh**cough*) I never really took any of those trips seriously. But, anyways, that May they were holding the Alexander McQueen exhibit that was widely raved about and featured, not only a 20 minute line just to get in, but an exhibit so packed that you had to walk single file in a straight line because there were so many people you couldn’t move. And since I was a super cool fashion major (*cough**laugh**cough*) I really wanted to check it out.
Ever since then, it’s been a tradition for my mom and I to head up to the Upper East Side on a gorgeous May day and check out the MET’s newest fashion exhibit, eat lunch at our favorite diner, hit up Ladurée and walk down Madison Ave. window shopping for some mother/daughter bonding time. It’s one of my favorite things to do and I look forward to it every year. And ever since last year, we added taking blog photos to the list of things to do.
Since this is something I look forward to every year, I always try to plan the perfect outfit. The minute I spotted this dress at Asos, I was in love. Between the stripes, the long sleeves and the shift style, I was sold instantly. It’s one of my favorites and is so comfortable that I traveled to and from Miami in it. As for these sneakers, I can’t get enough of the colors and I’m actually head over heels in love with them. They were so comfortable and perfect for all the walking we did. And since I felt as if the dress & sneaker look was missing something, I tied this chambray shirt around my waist to accentuate it a little more and give off that cool girl vibe. Add in my favorite bag and a bold lip and I was ready to go!
Dress: Asos. Shirt: J.Crew. Sneakers: New Balance. Bag: Saint Laurent. Pom: Etienne Aigner. Bracelets: Stella & Dot. Sunnies: Saint Laurent.
I’ll be doing another NYC Diaries post and talking more about this trip as told by snapchat later this month so be sure to check back for that!
Thank you so much for stopping by and reading.
Have a great weekend everyone!
