New York City got a light sprinkle of snow yesterday. Honestly at this point if I’m not gonna have a snow day, I don’t want to deal with it at all. I’m ready for spring and all the spring things. To be honest, I may or may not have ordered a thing or two already for spring.
Since January is *finally* coming to a close, I wanted to do a quick roundup of my Instagram posts for this month on the blog. And also because I figured since the Instagram algorithm sucks and I’m tired of complaining about it and I kinda don’t care anymore because, say it with me *numbers do not define us* I thought it would be easier to put all my photos in one big recap.
I’ve actually been really enjoying creating content specifically for Instagram fashion so today I separated this post into two sections. One for photos taken specifically to post on Insta and the other section for photos taken from blog posts to post on Insta in case you missed it. And I wanted to share a little backstory behind each photo so you get a taste of the BTS.
I’ve been pretty consistent with posting on the blog which I’m actually really proud of myself about, but Insta not that much, but baby steps here people!
INSTAGRAM FASHION ROUNDUP – JANUARY 2018
PHOTOS TAKEN FOR INSTAGRAM
Probably one of my favorite photos from this month if I’m being honest. Last weekend I dragged the boyfriend out of bed early and we explored the Lower East Side. We grabbed coffee and wandered around taking pictures. It was such a peaceful and fun morning. As much as I hate waking up early, I do love how calm the city is in the morning and I love feeling like I got so much accomplished by the time the afternoon rolls around.
My mom was nice enough to get up early with me one morning to take blog photos. Honestly, she’s been so busy working that this was one of the first shoots we had together since I got back into blogging and it was a nice start to the day. Central Park in the morning is my absolute favorite. It’s so calm and you literally watch the city come to life. There are also so many dogs on their morning walks that I was in love. So many of them were off their leashes just running around and I wanted to be all in the action and take them home with me!!
I just got this LA baseball cap and although I have no interest in baseball or any affiliation to the team, I’ve been wearing this hat nonstop. The initials of my first and middle name are L.A so naturally I use their merch like my personal monogram. And while we’re on a pink theme here, I paired it with my current fave sweater that is honestly such a steal that I picked it up in two more colors!
So funny story about this picture. My mom and I were heading to the mall one Saturday for lunch and to do some shopping. I opened the door to my apartment and this taxi was just parked right out front. Hello, I must have been good because that was a gift from God to my Instagram feed. Naturally I whipped out the phone and told my mom “take my pictureeeee”. I also loved that the poster was for the movie CoCo. If you haven’t seen it, I highly recommend. I was so blown away by how good it was and it was so unexpected. I legit sat there crying through the ending.
Also was finally able to snag this sweater. It was on backorder for what felt like forever. I recommend sizing up a bit since it runs super small.
PHOTOS TAKEN FROM THE BLOG FOR INSTAGRAM
One of my most popular posts/photos/outfits for this month. This coat is my absolute favorite for the winter and I’m seriously considering picking it up every season in a different color to build a collection. The boyfriend and I took these photos at the beginning of the year when the weather in NYC was frigid and frightful!!
As cheesy as it sounds, I really saw 2018 as a fresh start for me and I shared my main goals in this post. I spotted this sweater at H&M and ran around the entire store searching for it. I think it’s so darling and it honestly corresponds to one of my biggest goals for the year which is just to be original.
This was one of the first shoots I’ve ever done with the boyfriend. I warned him beforehand that I may get a teensy bit passionate so don’t take anything I say personally. Poor thing. He managed to get a few great cab shots, but a lot of the photos featured creepy stranger danger white vans, but hey not bad for his first time.
The coziest sweater I own honestly. This was also one of my favorite posts to write about. Last year my director at worked introduced me to the idea of a “tickler” and it’s been such a game changer for me personally and professionally. I share what it even is and why I think you should start one. Also these photos were shot in like October so it was nice to finally be able to share them!
Makeup is one of my biggest passions. I swear half of my money goes to new makeup and skincare products but I rarely share it on the blog. So I really wanted to start sharing more about my love of beauty. I shared how I learned how to do my own makeup in this post. I know a lot of people find it really intimidating but it’s not, you just have to go for it!!
My most recent post! I also shot this look back in October. I shared a few simple tips to save money. My mom has always been so smart when it comes to spending and budgeting and saving and she’s always installed that same attitude in me. I recently realized that a lot of my peers have a completely different outlook on money and are slowly ruining their bank accounts. So I wanted to share a few of my thoughts and things I’ve learned!
My very first post of 2018! I had been pretty inconsistent for a while now when it came to the blog. I took the end of November and all of December off which was the longest break for me. I thought I owed you guys an explanation before we moved on so I spill it all in this post.
This was the first post my boyfriend shot for me. It was kinda hysterical to be honest. I asked him to get lower to take my pic since he’s taller than me and he pretty much kept falling over. Was a nice distraction from the cold!
This was the last post I had for 2017. I actually loved this post and was really proud of it. It was the first time I shot with no sunglasses on! I shared a little career advice in this one and pretty much what I’ve learned from working in corporate for a few years now. I actually love talking about career advice on the blog because I feel like when I first entered the working world I didn’t know anything and was so lost. I’ve learned so much at all of my different jobs and I want to be able to help and guide those of you who may feel a little lost.
Such a throwback! This was the Valentine’s Day look the boyfriend and I shot back in 2016. V-Day is my absolute favorite and we shot our looks for this year earlier in the month and I’m so in love with them. Before I shared the ones from this year I wanted to do a little throwback.
I hope you guys enjoyed that round-up! I know Instagram is so funky especially with the algorithm so I want to do this once a month in case you aren’t seeing me in your field or if you just want an easier way to shop my posts.
Thank you so much for reading!!
