Happy Monday!
How was your weekend?
I had the most productive Saturday & the most unproductive Sunday.
Saturday, I met up with Dana for a fun little shoot that will be up on Wednesday. Afterwards, my mom and I ventured to Chinatown to look at the decorations and pick up a few things in preparation for the Lunar New Year. I felt so accomplished by the time I got home so naturally I took a nap.
On Sunday, I had plans to wake up and fully work on the blog… well I took two naps, ate mozzarella sticks and watched the first two Harry Potter movies again. Honestly no regrets. And in case you’re waiting to hear my thoughts on the Super Bowl, I got nothing for you. I’m not a fan of either teams so I had no interest in watching so I spent my night watching the cooking channel lol.

I’m so excited to share my first Valentine’s Day post for 2018!
If you’ve been following me for a while then you know I’m a die hard V-Day fan. I know it’s not a real holiday per say, but I just love it so for the next two weeks I have fun V-Day content planned.
For my first post, I enlisted the help of the boyfriend to share a date night look. This is my version of a dressy look since I wanted to do something different this year than a cliche dress/skirt look AND I also couldn’t find any red/pink dresses or skirts that I loved this year.
Eddie & I have been making more of an effort these last few months to “date” more. We’ve been together for so long that it’s easy to get into a routine so we have to make time to actually switch things up and go out on dates. And today I wanted to share 5 date night ideas that we’ve done or want to do and hopefully give you a little inspo for Vday.
And if you don’t have a significant other, don’t fret because my Galentine’s day Day post will be live on Wednesday!
5 VALENTINE DATE NIGHT IDEAS
VALENTINE DATE NIGHT IDEAS: THE CLASSIC DATE
You just can’t go wrong with a classic dinner and a movie date. And there’s nothing wrong with keeping it a little simple. Plus it’s the perfect date for the wintertime when it’s way too cold to be outside.
I think it’s important to remember that you don’t always have to have a fancy and unique date night experience. It’s about just spending time together.
Eddie and I are actually planning on catching a movie and grabbing a bite to eat this weekend and I’m really looking forward to it. Some of our favorite memories together are seeing a movie and then ordering chick-fil-a afterwards. Plus, in my opinion there is nothing better than a low key dinner and movie date after a stressful.
VALENTINE DATE NIGHT IDEAS: THE BUDGET FRIENDLY DATE
The budget police (me) is here.
Eddie and I have been dating since we were in high school when we had no money to spare so obviously we learned to get creative with our dates. Again it’s important to remember that it’s about spending time together not how much money you spend so you really can make the most out of every situation.
I’ll be honest though, most of our budget friendly date ideas are more suitable for spring/summer. We’ve really enjoyed getting out and enjoying a new neighborhood to see what we can find. Packing a lunch and heading to the park to have a little picnic in the park and even just grabbing some bubble tea and sitting down and just talking.
You can also do a quick google search to see if there are any free events in your city and it could be a great chance to try something new. I think if you’re on a budget, it’s all about getting creative.
VALENTINE DATE NIGHT IDEAS: THE SPLURGE DATE
Although I’m all about a creative budget date, there is something great about a special splurge date. I actually think a splurge date is even more special when they happen once in a while because if you’re constantly treating yourselves then it’s no longer a treat.
A few fun things to do are trying a new restaurant that you guys have been eyeing, catching a Broadway show (Eddie, I’m still waiting to see Aladdin!!) and if you’re in New York, heading to the Top of the Rock at night.
Eddie lives in the lower east side so there are so many amazing restaurants down there. Although you can find some budget friendly places, a lot of the options are bit of splurge so we’ve been trying to treat ourselves once a month by trying a new place. And my favorite British podcast (My Dad Wrote A Porno) is coming to the US next month, so he actually picked up tickets for us to go see them live and I’m so excited!
VALENTINE DATE NIGHT IDEAS: THE ADVENTUROUS DATE
I use the word adventurous lightly, especially in New York. But, by adventurous I mean just trying something new.
It’s so easy to get caught up in a routine, even if you get creative with a budget friendly date or treat yourselves in a splurge date, you can still get caught up in a routine. So it’s nice to try something new as a couple.
Take a class like a work out class, a cooking class or even an indoor rock climbing class. We’ve done a couples cooking class before that was quite the experience and a lot of fun. And we even went bowling on a random Saturday afternoon which spoiler alert I sucked at, but was a blast.
Just make an effort to step out of your comfort zones together and trying something new and you may both find something you love or laugh about something you hate.
VALENTINE DATE NIGHT IDEAS: THE RELAXING DATE
As a homebody, this is naturally my favorite one.
Over the summer, Eddie & I had plans every Friday and Saturday because we wanted to get out and try something new. After a few weeks of fun, I finally told him, I just wanted to stay in and relax since we’ve been making back to back plans and honestly it was just as fun as any other date night we’ve had.
Stay in your pjs (bonus points for matching or coordinating pjs), watch movies or binge watch Stranger Things, order pizza and eat tons of junk food. I’ve gone back to work on Monday feeling so refreshed and happy after a relaxing weekend date.
And if you want to get out and splurge a little, you can also get a couple’s spa treatment like a massage. Eddie and I have never done this, but I love a spa day so it’s on my list of things to do.
I hope you guys enjoyed todays Valentine date night ideas post! And if you have a significant other, I hope you’re feeling a little inspired to get out there and get creative with your dates.
And if you hated todays post cause you’re #teamsingle, then be on the look out for my first ever Galentine’s Day post on Wednesday.
Thank you so much for reading!!
