Happy Wednesday Babes!
Shhh… Don’t tell the boyfriend, but today’s post is probably one of my all time faves because we have an extra special guest.
It’s Dana of The Champagne Edit. Fun Fact, we met as freshmen in college, back in 2010. We honestly didn’t get close until our junior/senior year of college and after one hot mess reunion two summers ago, we’ve been super close. Isn’t it crazy that I’ve known her for years and yet this is her first cameo on Live Laugh Linda.
I know not everyone is head over heels in love with Valentine’s Day the same way I am, so I wanted to share some Galentine’s Day content because honestly who can hate Galentine’s Day??
I teamed up with Dana to share some girls night in outfit inspiration AND a girls night out outfit inspiration along with my thoughts on why you should still celebrate Galentine’s Day even if you have a significant other since Dana & I both have boyfriends.
And to clarify, by girls night out, I don’t mean twerking in the club. My idea of a wild night out in my old age of 25 is like happy hour or in this instance, shopping and having some girl time.

HOW OFTEN DO YOU CELEBRATE OR APPRECIATE YOUR FRIENDSHIPS?
One of the big arguments I hear against Valentine’s Day is that you should show love to those in your life everyday not just this one day.
But, let’s be honest for a moment.
How often do you show your friends that you appreciate them and love them? Take Thanksgiving for example. It’s a day for us to be grateful for all of our blessings. But, shouldn’t we be grateful everyday? Yeah, but life moves fast so it’s nice to have one special day as a friendly reminder.
My boyfriend and I constantly say I love you. Every time we hang up on the phone or when he walks me to work and then we part ways, we always say it as a goodbye. But, I rarely get sentimental with my friends. But my friends have always been there for me and have talked me up when I needed it and talked me off the ledge when I’ve had breakdowns.
So take this Galentine’s Day and just tell your friends how much you appreciate them and celebrate all of the ups and downs you’ve gone through together.
NOTHING BEATS SOME GIRL TIME
Let’s be honest. Your girls (or your friends in general, since my best friend in the whole world is a gay man) get you in a way that your boyfriend just doesn’t.
You need some girl time and it’s not only healthy for you, but healthy for your relationship in the long run.
When I met up with Dana & Elle to shoot these pictures, we had a blast. It was my first time meeting Elle and it wasn’t awkward at all, it was like we’ve been friends for forever. It was non stop laughs and jokes and the three of us talked about blogging and life and they just got everything I was saying.
Some of my favorite weekend memories are with my boyfriend, but a little girl time every now and then is healthy, necessary and sometimes even more fun than a date night!
IT’S ONE BIG VENT SESSION
Let’s face it. While your boyfriend may be the best person to vent to because he just listens, judgement free, he really doesn’t get it. He comforts you because he has to and 9 times out of 10, he makes a stupid comment that pisses you off even more. At least mine does.
Your girls will get you, agree with you and even vent with you.
From the smallest thing like the salad bar running out of corn to how your boss chewed you out for being late to your boyfriends unhealthy obsession with video games to you not knowing how to ask for a promotion, they will get it. And they’ll most likely have some really great advice and will build you up to give you confidence. And vice versa since you probably have some great advice to give as well.
Again, no one gets you as well as your friends do.
THE THINGS YOU HAVE TO FORCE YOUR BOYFRIEND TO DO, YOUR GIRLFRIENDS WILL DO WILLINGLY
My list of totally cliche things we like to do, but are totally accurate like wearing matching pjs, watching one too many rom coms, watching The Notebook, Clueless and the throwback Mary Kate & Ashley movies on repeat, using every opportunity to start a photo shoot, eating way too much food and shopping.
You probably have to force your boyfriend to do those things with you or even make compromises. Like, yes you can play your video games for one hour if you go shopping with me. But spoiler alert, your girlfriends will not only do these things with you, they want to and love these things to!!
So throw on your matching silk pjs (this is a special occasion after all), order pizza, get way too much candy in the VDay section at CVS, pop in Clueless and pretty much have the best night ever.
INSTEAD OF SETTING EXPECTATIONS FOR VALENTINE’S DAY, TREAT YOURSELF WITH YOUR GIRLS
As much as I love Valentine’s Day, I’ve stopped putting so much expectation into the day. I’m a strong believer that a small gesture or personal and fun gift is the way to go. Not a big splurge Christmas worthy gift.
But, instead of setting these expectations for Valentine’s Day, like going to a nice restaurant or even getting a box of chocolates or whatever it may be, gather the troops and treat yourself. If there’s a restaurant you want to go to, just go with your friends. Do you love the Vday box of chocolates like I do? Get it for yourself and get some for your friends.
When I was doing research on Galentine’s Day and trying to see why different people celebrate it, one of the main themes was just being an independent women so don’t wait for anyone and just take charge of your own Galentine’s or Valentine’s Day!
I hope you guys enjoyed today’s post as much as I enjoyed working on it!
Thank you so much for reading!!
