Happy Friday Friends!
Back with another installment in my Friday Favorites series. This is only my second post in the series, but it’s quickly becoming on of my favorite posts to work on so I hope you’re loving it as much as I am!
FIVE FRIDAY FAVORITES
Fujifilm Instax Mini Polaroid Camera
My best friend Kyle, has had a polaroid camera for years and I’ve always just associated them with him. If you don’t believe me, just check out his Instagram because it’s almost all polaroids. As someone who takes 101 photos of the same thing just to get THE RIGHT photo, doesn’t it seem ridiculous that I wanted a polaroid camera? Especially since it’s a one and done kind of thing.
I admit one of the biggest reasons I wanted one was because of all the fun colors available, but I have to admit, I really do love my polaroid. Eddie is 10x better at taking polaroid pics than I am and not to toot my own horn, but I was obsessed with the photos he took of me on our trip. I need to start carrying it with me so I can get some great NYC pictures as well. But, I have a ton of great photos from my trip that I want to figure out how to display and decorate my desk space with.
I can’t get over how handsome Eddie looks in this photo!!
Whenever I have a slower week at work, Eddie & I try to meet up for lunch. One of our favorite things to do is head to Turnstyle Underground Market, which is the subway station at Columbus Circle that they also transformed into a shopping & food area. We always get an order of dumplings, a pepperoni pizza and occasionally a bubble tea. It’s such a classic NYC moment and I love it.
We haven’t done it in a while since we’ve been busy and then went on vacation, but on Wednesday, he texted me and asked me if I wanted to have a lunch date on Thursday. It just made me so happy. We’ve been dating for so long that it’s nice to get back to basics and go out on a date. He remembered every little detail too, like how I want soy sauce & a little bit of sriracha with my dumplings and that I like garlic sprinkled on my pizza. The fact that he paid attention to every little detail and made such an effort was so nice. And it was nice to leave the office for an hour!
Breakfast at Pret
When I was planning out my Five Friday Favorites, I couldn’t help but laugh because it’s pretty much all food based!
My mom & I shot some blog photos one morning at Central Park and when we finished, I was starving. I never really eat at Pret, but they opened one across the street from my office so I popped in. I don’t know if it was because I was starving, but the brioche breakfast sandwiches looked amazing. I opted for the egg white & bacon, not because I’m bougie and prefer egg white, but because it had less calories and grabbed a peach green tea.
OMG. It was amazing!! I have to stop myself from getting it everyday because you know I’m a budget queen and that is $9 I don’t want to spend every morning. I’ve had both the regular egg and the egg white and the egg white and bacon is by far the best. It’s perfectly seasoned that I didn’t need to put anything on it, even ketchup. I normally get the peach green tea, but tried the raspberry lemonade the other day and it was pretty good. Now that today is Friday, I just might treat myself to it for breakfast!
Trader Joe’s Chocolate Covered Bananas
I love bananas and I love chocolate so this is a match made in heaven. But, I’ve actually tried these in the past and wasn’t a fan of them. They’re frozen so I always found them hard to eat and the chocolate would fall off the banana and it would just be a mess. But, I tried these the other day when they were a little thawed from my commute home and I think they are amazing!! I’ve seriously eaten two whole boxes this week alone. My mom tried to pick up some more yesterday and they were sold out so I’m hoping they restock because I’m addicted.
The trick is to definitely let them thaw a little bit!
A Big Bowl of Pho
Who else gets really bad period cravings?? I always know when my period is coming because I find myself desperately craving something. One month it was banana nutriments which is like this meal supplement drink that you can only find at bodegas. I used to get them with my breakfast bacon and egg when I was younger. Other months it’s sweets, last month it was Starbucks Green Tea lemonade and this month it was a bowl of pho.
If you’re not familiar, pho is a traditional Vietnamese noodle soup. It’s amazing. Whenever I go to Vietnam, my family always makes us a big bowl of pho to enjoy after all that travel and it’s what we eat for breakfast most days. We’re supposed to be heading to Chinatown tomorrow so I’m hoping to treat myself to a big bowl of soup! Only Asians eat soup in warm temperatures and find it soothing!
THIS WEEK WAS…
Anyone else feel like this week dragged on? I woke up on Wednesday thinking, “It’s seriously only Wednesday??”I just feel like I’ve been moving slow this week, everything and everyone around me has been moving slow and this week dragged on.
I also need to get back into a normal sleeping routine because every week I am exhausted. I used to go to bed every night at 10pm and wake up at 5am to go to the gym. As tough as it was, I loved that schedule and found that I got more sleep then so I need to get back into a routine!!
I’ve been really into jewelry this week. I’m normally really simple when it comes to my everyday pieces. I have a diamond cross that my mom gave me for my Confirmation when I was in 7th grade that I never take off, an Alex & Ani Harry Potter 9 3/4 necklace that I never take off and a David Yurman ring.
But, I recently came across this retailer called Frasier Sterling that has the cutest pieces. They’re not affiliate with Reward Style so I can’t include a shopping widget, but here are a few of my favorites… I love the Miami earrings & the Miami necklace. Besides pineapples, palm trees are my weakness. And I love their custom necklace. I feel like that would be such a great addition to my everyday collection.
I’ve also been loving Jet Set Candy. I’ve been a fan of the brand for a while, but haven’t picked up any of their pieces. I want to create a necklace with a charm from places I’ve visited like Vietnam & Puerto Rico along with some NYC pieces and some basic travel pieces. I love the idea of their brand and think they’re so fun. Again, not affiliate with Reward Style so here are my faves… this Vietnam charm, this Puerto Rico charm, this New York charm, this New York ring and this New York spinner.
LINDA’S BEAUTY CORNER
To be honest, I haven’t really been impressed with anything in stores lately. I feel like I shop for more makeup when it’s cooler out and when it’s warm out, I focus more on clothes. But, there are a ton of launches coming out soon that I’m excited about. One of my favorite accounts to follow on Instagram is Trendmood. It’s basically an account that features all photos and details of new makeup launches and any launches from popular Youtubers. I love scrolling through her page and seeing what’s coming out. And since I’m not currently in the mood to picking up anything new, here are a few of my favorites that I wear every day!
Watching… Dynasty! I just finished catching up and binge watching it on Netflix and I am beyond obsessed. The season finale blew my mind!! I’m so excited they were renewed for another season, but bummed I have to wait until fall. Also one of my favorite Disney movies, Coco, just hit Netflix. Every single person I’ve talked to who has seen it, says the same thing. They say they didn’t think much of it prior to watching it, but after watching it think it’s amazing. It’s so good and makes me cry every time so I highly recommend!!
Listening… to Colour by MNEK & Hailee Steinfeld. I love Hailee Steinfeld and she can do no wrong in my book. This song debuted this week and has been on replay for me. It’s so good!
Reading…. Still reading The Wild one by Gemma Burgess and loving it so far.
Have You Read It?
My posting schedule this week was a little messed up and my Monday & Friday post didn’t go up at 6am, but a bit later. So in case you missed those posts along with a few of my faves….
- I filmed a haul video of everything I purchased for my trip so a YouTube video will be up sometime this month. YouTube is a platform that is so hard to maintain for me, but it holds a special place in my heart since it’s how I started back in 2012! I’m thinking of making more videos and some lookbook videos this summer so we shall see!
- I have a ton of Instagram photos to post, but I’ve just been so lazy, but forcing myself to get back on the bandwagon next week. Are you following along?
- Next week I’m finally sharing my thoughts on Whole30, along with more Puerto Rico posts so stay tuned!
That’s all for me! I hope you enjoyed this week’s roundup. I have so much fun working on these posts so I hope you’re enjoying it as much as I am!
Have a great weekend friends!!
