Happy Friday Friends!
I am soooo happy that it is Friday and the weekend is upon us. I started yawning and craving for my bed Monday morning and haven’t stopped since. I can not wait to sleep in and be lazy and move at my own pace. Today’s Friday Favorites is a little edited and shorter since I am fighting to keep my eyes open and still have to pack for the weekend at Eddie’s place.
FIVE FRIDAY FAVORITES
I purchased this Levi’s hoodie during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and honestly it was my best purchase. It is oversized, heavy and just so comfy. Nothing relaxes me more than getting home at the end of the day, taking off my makeup, changing into my pjs and throwing on this hoodie. I’ve always loved an oversized fit since I hate anything clinging to my body and I just know once the weather gets cooler, I’m going to want nothing more than throwing on a big sweater. I just purchased a handful of sweaters from H&M so I can start having them on rotation when the fall weather finally sticks. Keep scrolling to see my shopping adventures and what I picked up.
I feel like October totally crept up on me. Seriously, the year is almost over and I honestly can’t believe it. I feel like January moved at a snails pace and the rest of the year just flew by. Anyways, October used to be my least favorite month, even though it’s my boyfriend’s birthday month, sorry bear! I know I sound crazy because everyone loves October, but it never meshed well with me.
For starters, the weather is so strange. It’s hot and then it’s cold and then it’s hot again and then it’s cold. The worse is when it’s freezing in the morning so you embrace your fall wardrobe and then by lunchtime it is summer again. Plus, I was never crazy about Halloween especially when all the scary movies come out and I have to endure the trailers in between my shows. No, thank you! But, for some reason, this year I am really embracing October and Halloween. All I’ve wanted to do is watch Halloween movies, family friendly of course, eat candy and get excited over seeing pumpkins around the city. Plus I’m really excited for fall and cooler weather.
Last weekend, the gang and I were out and about, taking photos and embracing the cooler weather. Everyone was hungry and cranky because I took too long getting ready doing my makeup. Honestly, my eyeshadow look that day was bomb so #SorryNotSorry. Anyways, Eddie suggested we go to Madison Square Park to eat lunch since it was nice out and so Kenny could run around.
OMG, it has been forever since I’ve had Shake Shack and let me tell you, it was amazing!! I know there is always a competition between Team Shake Shack and Team In & Out, but we don’t have In & Out in NYC so I’m naturally Team Shake Shack. I always get a classic hamburger with bacon, lettuce and tomato and throw some ketchup on it and then of course their classic crinkle fries and a grape soda. Eddie loves a double cheeseburger with bacon and bacon cheese fries.
Weekends at WTC
I used to work inside One World Trade Center when I worked at Teen Vogue and I loved it. I loved the area, the views and the building itself. My mom and I used to spend every weekend around WTC. There are many landmarks and areas in NYC that I love, but I truly have a soft spot for One World Trade. They have really rebuilt the area and there is so much to do there. There is Brookfield with the high end shopping and food spots. There is Westfield that has a mix of high end and budget friendly shopping. Think, Sam Edelman, Victoria’s Secret, Sephora, etc. And outside, they just debuted this massive colorful mural that is so fun and such a great photo opportunity.
Union Square Farmer’s Market
My mom used to work around Union Square so I used to battle my way through the farmer’s market just to meet up with her or just to get to the other side of the park. But, last weekend, we actually took the time to explore the farmer’s market, snap some pics and check out the different vendors. As crowded as it was, it was nice to leisurely stroll around and see everything they had to offer. There was one booth though that was teaming with bees! Seriously so many of them were on the ground and flying around. I could have done without the bees, but it was fun nonetheless.
THIS WEEK WAS
At work we are in between three seasons so I’ve been working on getting rid of fall samples, managing holiday samples and shoots while preparing for spring samples. I’m also a one man team so it’s a lot for me to manage and handle. I’m such a perfectionist as cliche as that sounds and so I want everything to be perfect and be in it’s proper place and I want to do it all and at the same time and I want it done now!
There was a lot going on this week and I couldn’t do it all by myself and in one day and I hated admitting that. It made me feel like I wasn’t doing a good job and I wasn’t giving a 100% until my boss basically had to tell me to take a chill pill and have more confidence in myself because I’m my biggest critic. But, anyways, it was a really busy week and I got home pretty late most nights and didn’t have any time to focus on my blog or do anything at all, so I was definitely riding the struggle bus.
I’ve been really good with saving money and not shopping, but I finally gave into the fall bug and put in an order at H&M. They have so many great pieces at such good prices. I didn’t really get anything super trendy, I just wanted some sweaters and a few basic pieces that I know I could incorporate into my already existing wardrobe. I picked up 10 items for $152, which I personally think is a great deal!
Watching… The Good Place. Eddie has been trying to get me to watch it for months and naturally I haven’t listened, but I started last weekend and I’m obsessed. I’m all caught up and currently watching season 3 on tv now. I’ve also gotten back into watching ABC sitcoms. I just started Single Parents since Leighton Meester is in it and she is my queen! And I just started American Housewife, so funny and good!
Listening… I just started listening to the Sibling Rivalry podcast with Bob the Drag Queen and Monét x Change who were on RuPaul’s Drag Race. It is so funny!! There are a few audio problems which were hard to get used to, to be honest, but they are so funny that it is worth it.
Reading… I just started California Summer: A Novel and haven’t really connected with it yet to be honest. It’s not bad and it’s starting to pick up, but I didn’t instantly love it like I loved the two other books I just read.
- It’s Eddie’s birthday tomorrow! Tonight I’m sleeping over Eddie’s apartment and he’s planning to make pulled pork empanadas while I make some killer boxed mac & cheese and then we’ll probably watch a movie then play trivia. And then on Saturday, we’ll probably get out and explore his neighborhood. He lives in the lower east side and it’s such a great location filled with restaurants and shops so I love to explore.
- My Puerto Rico vacation photos are finally finished! So I’ll be working on sharing fall outfits to the blog starting next week!
Thank you so much for reading my Friday favorites! Hope you all have a great weekend!
