I hope you had a great weekend. I had such a lazy weekend and it was wonderful. The gang and I headed to Target on Saturday to take some fun pics and to buy 101 things we didn’t even need. After we left, we realized we forgot to buy the one thing that we actually went in there for! We also went to the mall, and let me tell you, it was crowded. It’s been a while since I’ve been to a mall on a Saturday night and I just had to get out because there were one too many people around. I almost left without getting Chick-fil-a because I was that overwhelmed. Emphasis on almost. Then on Sunday, I forced everyone to watch Disney World vlogs with me, obviously, until we fell asleep for the longest, most amazing, lazy Sunday nap.
Anyways, it’s been a while since I did a purely fashion/style post. But, with Halloween coming up and me actually being in the fall festive spirit this year, I wanted to share a fun idea for under $75 based on one of my fave movies of the year; Here’s my To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before Halloween costume.
To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before Halloween Costume Outfit Details
Please tell me you’ve seen “To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before.” I’ve seen it more times than I can count honestly and I love it just as much each time. I’ve started reciting the words as I watch and Eddie is not here for it. He just stares at me and threatens to turn it off.
But, I am in love with Lara Jean and the actress who plays her. If you have time, read more about Lana Condor’s background because it is so interesting. Plus her family and friends in the movie are amazing and obviously Peter Kavinsky (swoon) is just perfect. So I really wanted to create a fun To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before Halloween costume idea that is not only budget friendly, but wearable for everyday life so you can really get the most out of your money. For under $75, I picked up the sweater, skirt and book. Everything else I just pulled out of my closet and I encourage you to mix new pieces with pieces you already have in your closet to save money and add your own spin on the look! See below for my inspo!
I was inspired by Lara Jean’s look when they dropped her older sister off at the airport when she was going to college. I found the top and skirt on Asos for a reasonable price and I was obsessed with the pieces when they came in. I mean how perfect is this colorful striped sweater?!
My shoes I picked up over the summer and I liked how they added a little bit of height to the look. In the movie, Lara Jean wears a lot of boots and sneakers so you can really put your own spin on what shoes you want to wear and what you’ll be most comfortable in. She also wears a personal necklace so I just kept my cross on that I never take off and added my Harry Potter necklace that I always wear.
She’s always reading which I can definitely relate to so I wanted to incorporate a book into the look and actually ordered “To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before” by Jenny Han, but it never came in! Amazon ended up refunding me because the seller never even shipped the book out. So I just used a book that I’m currently reading. But, Target has the book on sale if you want to pick it up to read and to feature in your costume.
And lastly, I did a little DIY project. I mean, who am I?! In the movie & book, Lara Jean wrote five letters. In true Live Laugh Linda fashion, I only had four envelopes so we just rolled with it. So I wrote names of her love interests on the envelopes, printed off small hearts and pumpkins and coffee cups and taped them onto the envelope. This is also another great area for you to put your own spin on it because you can decorate the envelopes however you want.
I’m kind of in love with this look if I do say so myself and I’m pretty proud of it! It’s super easy to recreate it, it’s budget friendly and incorporates pieces that everyone has in their wardrobe.
Thank you so much for reading! And if you give this look a try, I would love to see. If not, I would still love to see and hear what you’re doing for Halloween. And if you’re looking for more inspo, I created a Blair Waldorf Halloween Costume a few years ago that you can check out!
