Happy Friday Friends!
Back with another Friday Favorites.
FIVE FRIDAY FAVORITES
Isn’t she a beauty?! My desk area is honestly my pride & joy of my apartment. Over the holiday break, I tried to clean it up a bit and make it more functional so I can work on it regularly rather than it be a dumping ground for my clothes and nonsense. I like to keep my desk colorful and filled with things I love to inspire me. But, for the longest time, I was using an old chair from the kitchen that was so uncomfortable. The back was hard and would hurt if I leaned back and the cushion was ripped. It was honestly a hot mess. I’ve been searching around for a while and haven’t found anything cause I’m uber picky. Everything was either too expensive or looked too big or just wasn’t quite right. When I saw this one, I knew it was perfect. It’s this luxurious green suede with gold legs. It is so comfortable and so soft and so well made for the price point. OBSESSED! Eddie even joked that my new thing should be “Girl in the Green Chair” and then referenced one of my favorite movies, Confessions of a Shopaholic because she was “Girl with the Green Scarf.”
If you’ve been following me for a while then you know my favorite winter coat is the J.Crew Chateau Parka. For the past three years, it has become a tradition to get a new one. It’s normally an early birthday gift from my mom. The first one I got was red with a windowpane print. The second one was black and my newest one this year is green. Can you tell I’m having a moment with the color green? It’s such a nice shade of green and the lining is navy which just makes it look even more perfect. It’s nice standing out in the sea of black coats on the NYC subway!
I have a serious obsession with nail polish you guys. It’s out of hand. When I decided to clean my whole apartment during the holiday break, Eddie kept pushing me to clean out my nail polishes and get rid of the dried ones. I always avoid doing this because I just can not part with them!! But, I decided to finally do it and after I did, he pulled out this gift and said it was an early Christmas present. I am living for it!! I love that it looks like I have my own salon at home. This actually doesn’t fit all of my nail polishes (Hi. My name is Linda and I might be a hoarder), so I hide a few more bottles behind this, but I love it so much!! I can see all of my colors and it just looks so aesthetically pleasing.
My boss gave me the most thoughtful gift for Christmas and it was basically a bag of all of my favorite things, including Disney merch and pineapple merch and this suede 2019 planner. At work I’m known for writing every single thing down. I never leave my desk without my planner. I had actually already bought a new one for myself for work. (I wrote all about my favorite one here). But, I loved the look and set up so much of this one that I decided to use it to keep track of my blog schedule & goals. I’ve tried so many different things to keep me on track, a digital calendar or mini notebooks, but I just work so much more efficiently with an actual planner. Nothing more satisfying than checking something off! This one has a ton of space for notes so I’ve been writing all of my ideas and goals down and a daily to do list for me. I keep my editorial calendar digitally and then everything else I write down in my planner.
Raise your hands if you always have dry hands! Seriously, from November until May, my hands are so dry. The winter weather gets to them plus the harsh soap in the bathroom at work is awful and my hands are just stripped. It sometimes gets so bad that my skin cracks and even when I apply lotion they burn because they are already so dry. So when I saw these at Sephora, I was pretty excited to try them. The packaging is so cute and they are only $5 each. I picked up the Honey hand polish because I loved the idea of a scrub for your hands. And I picked up the coconut lotion because it was the one targeted to dry and cracked hands. I adore the scrub so much. It really does exfoliate the dry skin off and leave my hands feeling smooth and moisturized. As for the lotion, I love the consistency and it really does moisturize my hands. I’m not crazy about the smell of the coconut one. I don’t mind a coconut scent, but this one is just off so I’m excited to try the other two scents.
THIS WEEK WAS
I thought it would be hard to go back to work last Wednesday after the holidays. Boy, was I wrong. That was a walk in the park compared to this week.
A whole week?? We had to get through a whole week?? Five days??
I was so used to having time off or a shortened week that I didn’t know what to do with myself going back to a normal 5 day work week. It was so hard getting up every morning and I was so exhausted. Plus the week just felt so slow. It was seriously dragging on.
When I woke up on Tuesday, I was thinking “Is it really only Tuesday?” And on Wednesday, I thought it was Thursday and Thursday felt like Friday. Needless to say, I’m excited today is finally Friday. I’m looking forward to getting some sleep and spending some time with my Eddie since we haven’t talked much this week because of our schedules.
But, I’m also looking forward to creating content this weekend. I have a ton of ideas and different things I want to do and try so here’s to hoping it’s a relaxing, but productive weekend.
I am currently having a moment with bronzers. I used to be TERRIFIED of bronzers. I didn’t know the right way to do it and I didn’t want to overdo it. I would basically apply it and then blend it out to where there was nothing there because I was so scared. I’ve since grown more comfortable, but these two bronzers have given me a whole new appreciation for contouring & bronzing.
I have never tried a cream bronzer before because if you thought I was afraid of powder, I would not approach cream with a ten foot pole. I found this cream stick bronzer in an old PR package when I was cleaning and for some reason, I just decided to give it a try. The first time I used it, I was so hesitant with the product that I couldn’t really tell a difference. And then I hyped myself up enough to just go for it and I’m in love. I’ve even gotten comments at work that my makeup has looked good and that my cheekbones are looking great and I have this product to thank. It’s so easy to use and blends out naturally. I’ve come to really appreciate the look of a cream bronzer topped with a powder bronzer. It’s so pretty.
And speaking on powder bronzers…. you guys probably saw in my Friday post from last week that I received a new bronzer for Christmas. I’ve used it this entire week and omg I can see why it is raved about. First off, the smell is so good. I always smell it before I use it because it transports me to a tropical island. This bronzer is just so freaking pretty. It’s natural, but buildable and honestly I don’t know what else to say but you need to try it!!
Watching… The final season of A Series of Unfortunate Events is on Netflix and Eddie and I are on the final episode! It is so good. I was such a fan of the book series when I was in grade school and it’s been so amazing seeing it come to life. I’ve also been watching The Real Housewives of NYC. I finally made it through season 5, which was so painful and I’m on the fence on season 6. Please tell me it gets better!!
Listening… I just finished listening to Dr. Death and OMG it was so freaking good. I was in shock throughout the 6 episodes and during the updates. It was created by the same producers of Dirty John so you know it’s good. I loved Dirty John, but it didn’t necessarily make me feel sad, but Dr. Death really hits you. It’s really quite sad and tragic, but so interesting.
Reading… I just ordered Dumplin’ by Julie Murphy because I loved the Netflix movie and heard amazing things about the book. I also ordered Big Sexy Love by Kirsty Greenwood. I ordered through Amazon Prime so they should arrive today. I’m so excited to get back into reading!
HAVE YOU READ?
Katie & Lydia are the mother daughter duo behind Oh Darling Blog. You guys know how close I am to my mom, so I instantly loved these two and their relationship. They are so kind and so stylish. I loved taking a look at all the amazing looks and trends they tried in 2018.
I actually connected with Kacie on Twitter and I adore her. She is so genuine and I relate to her so much. She recapped her 2018 and talked about her highs and lows of last year and her goals for this year and I am so inspired by her.
Grace Lee shared 5 ways to manage a busy lifestyle and since I’m really trying to stay on top of everything this year, I really appreciated it. My favorite thing was her saying you have to accept that you’re going to be stressed and move forward. I love that since I typically just let it get the best of me so I thought that was so inspirational.
I’m obviously obsessed with skincare so I was so excited when I saw Alicia sharing these budget friendly items. I really want to try that mask and oil!
I adore Briony. I think she is just fabulous, inspiring and always so eloquent in her posts. She shared some goals for the new year and I’m pretty sure we can all get behind them. She always makes me want to be a better and more fabulous person.
- Another low key weekend focusing on the blog! I’m really trying to stay consistent this year so I’ve been doing something for the blog every free moment I have. When I come home from work, I go straight to my desk and on the weekends I dedicate it fully to creating content. So this weekend I have some posts to write & photos to shoot. And I have a video idea I want to try. The 9-5 and blog balance never stops!
- I also really want to watch Tidying Up with Marie Kondo. It sounds so good and I am on a cleaning kick so I’m going to watch and then clean my apartment this weekend.
- Next week, I’m sharing more about me since I’ve been noticing some new readers so just a few fun facts you may not know. I’m also rounding up all of my luxury accessories and sharing an honest and in-depth review. Feel free to leave me any questions you may have about luxury accessories!
Thank you so much for reading my Friday favorites!
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
