Okay, be honest, what are your thoughts on the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale this year? Be honest & give me the good, the bad & the ugly! • • Today Eddie & I headed uptown to the NYC Nordstrom Flagship store. I’ve never experienced the Anniversary Sale in person so I was excited to this year. All the sales associates were so incredibly nice and although I found the selection to be small in stores, they did have some items available that were sold out online! Overall, I just had the best shopping day with my boyfriend. Who has been your rock throughout this crazy mess of a year? • • I can name several people, but I wanted to take a moment to appreciate my boyfriend, Eddie. For taking care of my weekly Trader Joe’s runs, for supporting my Amazon addiction, for encouraging my content creation and helping me film TikTok videos, for holding me as I cried about being laid off, for calming me down every time I had a panic attack and countless other big & small thoughtful things he did to support me. • • This year has been a mess for truly a million reasons. But, the one thing I am grateful for is to have an amazing support system that has been so quick to rally around me. ❤️

What is one place you can not wait to travel to on

What is one place you can not wait to travel to once it is safe to travel? • • Personally, I can not wait to return to Puerto Rico. My family has gone every May for the past 2 years and it is one of my favorite places. The food, the people, the colors of Old San Juan, I just love it all. Would you believe me if I told you this photo was taken at a rest stop in Vietnam? Honestly it was the prettiest rest stop I had ever been to and they had REAL TOILETS AND TOILET PAPER! If that sounds weird or confusing, just google “in ground toilets in Vietnam” and you will understand why I was celebrating. • • Also, in case you missed it I vlogged my entire Vietnam trip from packing to traveling to what we did while we were there and they are now all live on my YouTube channel “Live Laugh Linda”. • • Honestly it was bittersweet editing and watching it back. On the one hand it was nice to be able to relive those memories with my family, but on the other it made me sad and made miss them more. Hello! I haven’t posted on Instagram since January, but I wanted to take a moment to say hi and share some thoughts that have been weighing heavy on my mind. • I grew up in New York City. I went to elementary/middle school near the Lower East Side where my classmates were predominantly Black and Hispanic. To me, that was normal. These were my friends. We were equal. I went to high school in the Meatpacking District and was introduced to a more diverse group of classmates. White. Black. Asian. Hispanic. Middle Eastern. And in a small class of 69 girls, we all felt like family. We all stood up for each other. Even after school, when I would hang out at my mom’s job, I was surrounded by POC who cared for me and taught me. One of my mom’s coworkers was named Darlene who was a Black woman who wrote books in her spare time and she encouraged my love of reading that I still have today. My point is, growing up I was surrounded by so much diversity. I was taught to love everyone and not judge someone by the color of their skin. I always thought I was on the right side of history because of how I grew up and what I believed in. • Over the last few days, I’ve learned that although I thought of myself as an ally, I wasn’t actually doing enough. It’s not enough to say I’m not a racist. It’s not enough to say, I love you and accept you. Actions need to be taken and actions speak louder than words. It’s not okay to say, I don’t see color. We should see color and we should celebrate our differences and see the beauty in them. I may not always get it right or say the right thing but I vow to support more Black owned businesses, seek them out, make an effort to support them. Read more titles by Black authors. Crazy Rich Asians meant so much to me because I saw Asian men and women just falling in love and being human and I want to seek out stories of Black women and men doing the same. I vow to seek out more influencers of color to follow and support. I vow to speak out when I see injustice even if others may not agree with me. I vow to not shy away and say and support Black Lives Matter even when it is not trending because that is what and who we are fighting for.

Puerto Rico holds such a special place in my heart

Puerto Rico holds such a special place in my heart. In case you guys didn’t know, I’m half Puerto Rican from my father’s side. I’ve also never had a relationship with him. And because of that I pushed everything related to him away including Puerto Rico. As far as I was concerned, I was fully Vietnamese. • • After the hurricane hit the island, I just felt such a connection to Puerto Rico and guilt that I pushed that side of me away because of my relationship or lack thereof with my father. Last year was my first time visiting and I feel in love. In love with the island, the people, the food, the culture, just everything. When it comes to Vietnam, I’ve grown up loving the country and culture. It was something my mother introduced me to and taught me things about. My relationship with Puerto Rico is different because it’s something I introduced myself to, something I did for myself and experienced it with the people I love the most. And my trip earlier this year was no different. It was incredible in every way.
