Pretty long post today so thank you so much for reading & stopping by. Hoping you all have a pretty seamless transition back into the regular work week!
The Monday after a long weekend, especially a big holiday weekend is the hardest.
Right about now, I’m probably kicking & screaming & crying over having to go back to work.
The life of a fashion assistant never stops. I work 65 hours a week, I’m on emails from the moment I get up to the moment I go to bed. When I sleep in, I have anxiety waking up because I’ve been away from my emails. Everyone in my life calls me out for not texting them back, but when you’re on emails all day long, the last thing you want to do is be on your phone communicating with people at the end of the day. Don’t get me wrong, I love fashion and I love the editorial world, but working this way every single day takes a toll on you. It’s not easy and there have been so many times where I just want to give up or scream because I’m so frustrated and tired and don’t have time to focus on anything else in my life, but work. But, this past week, I finally had a moment to step back and breathe.
I got to sleep in and relax, to catch up on my favorite shows and youtube channels and to focus on myself and my blog. Ever since starting this job, I’ve really struggled blogging. I don’t have time to focus on it like I used to, I didn’t love it as much as before because it felt forced, like I was rushing to post and not being able to give my time to it and every week I’m not able to post three times, I’m angry with myself. But, I didn’t want to give it up because I love blogging and I don’t want to treat it as just a hobby because to me, this is a huge part of my life.
This weekend, I had a chance to remind myself why I love blogging and to finally be able to be creative again. The Gift Guide content is pretty much completed, I shot a ton of looks this weekend and just had time to sit down and take my time with each blog post. And every gift guide I put together, every photo I edited and every word I typed out just made me incredibly happy.
Okay, personal rant over, but the point is, I don’t want to lose this feeling now that the regular work week is resuming, so my goal is to post 5 days a week until Christmas so I don’t feel like my blog is my abandoned child and instead like it’s a part of my life.
….And on a really quick fashion note…. I found this coat on Lulu’s and fell in love. White coats in the city are pretty risky, but I couldn’t resist the grid print and wanted to make it the focus so I paired it with an all black outfit and jewel toned heels for the holidays!
Coat: Lulu’s c/o. Sweater: Banana Republic. Pants: Banana Republic. Shoes: Manolo Blahnik. Bag: Chanel. Rings: Vita Fede. Kendra Scott. Sunnies: Celine.
